Have you ever found yourself wondering, “how do we solve the asymmetry of patient information between health plans and providers?” If yes, you’re not alone.

Innovative Approach to Provider Communication

Blue Cross of Idaho, a leading insurer in Idaho with approximately 550,000 members across the Commercial, Medicare Advantage (MA), and Affordable Care Act (ACA) markets, found themselves asking the same question.

Historically, the activities used to share patient-specific information with providers (e.g., direct mail and fax) caused administrative burden and achieved limited success. Blue Cross of Idaho understood that a new approach to provider communication strategy would be necessary to eliminate data silos and improve performance.

On Tuesday, June 30, at the virtual RISE National conference, Leah Hannum, Director of Risk Adjustment and Provider Strategy Leader at Blue Cross of Idaho, and Brandon Solomon, Vice President of Client Advisory and Business Development at Pareto Intelligence, will be presenting an innovative, holistic approach to payer-provider communication and alignment that is proven to improve risk, quality and clinical outcomes. The session takes place from 1:00PM to 1:45PM ET.

The presentation will showcase how Blue Cross of Idaho developed a market-agnostic provider communication strategy that meets providers where they are by delivering meaningful patient information within current clinical workflows. The plan also focuses on holding providers accountable by distributing transparent, objective and timely performance reporting.

And while technology is only one aspect of an effective strategy, selecting the right solution is critical to activating your goals and reducing provider abrasion. Blue Cross of Idaho chose Pareto’s solution, an intelligent communication platform that transforms the way health plans and providers share patient data by delivering member-specific insights directly into EHRs and current workflows, effectively closing the payer-provider information gap. The plan is currently sharing risk documentation-related data with providers using Pareto, and has plans to expand the partnership to include quality and care gaps this year.

By aligning product and network design, provider incentives, value-based contracting, and internal processes with Pareto, Blue Cross of Idaho has achieved a 72% patient engagement rate across Individual and Small Group membership, as well as a 13.3% increase in the recapture of evaluated and documented chronic conditions.

Ultimately, the strategies you deploy and the technologies you use should lead to this important outcome: Getting patient data into the hands of the people who can do the most good with it—providers.

Attendees of RISE National can attend a live demo during the conference at Pareto’s virtual exhibit booth.
